Endurance athlete runs for Fisher House
November 19, 2012
After running over 700 miles and raising £1,850 in the past year for the Fisher House project and the Warrington Peace Centre, there’s no stopping Brian New from Warrington who plans to run another 750 miles for the charity over the next twelve months.
Brian, dubbed the ‘Endurance King’, has completed several events in support of the military patients at QEHB, the most recent being a Remembrance Ride at David Lloyd in Warrington. The ride was an 11 hour 11 minute indoor bike ride which raised over £900.
Brian said, “I have a 21 year old son who has friends who served in Afghanistan – one was shot within six days of being out there and is now paralysed. These people are an inspiration to me and knowing they are putting their lives on the line motivates me to want to support them. I run because I can - when I get tired, I remember those who can’t run, and what they’d give to have this precious gift that I take for granted. My son is currently studying, hoping to go to Medical School and considering an Army Medical career as one of his options. We both want to support our military patients in whatever way we can.”
During the next twelve months from Remembrance Sunday 2012 to Remembrance Sunday 2013, Brian, a triathlon coach at the David Lloyd Gym in Great Sankey will be fundraising for Fisher House and St Joseph’s Family Centre in Warrington. Brian will be doing the following endurance events:
20/01/2013 - Four Villages Half Marathon
16/03/2013 – Gin Pit ‘Double Trouble’ Marathon (two marathons in two days)
18/05/2013 - Lanzarote Ironman
01/06/2013 – Double Enduroman
17/08/2013 – Hell on the Humber 12 Hour Run

“The hospital charity provides those added extras that make a huge difference to the lives of military patients and their families. Thank you for your support”
