New November look for Ambulatory Care Unit staff
October 23, 2012
Staff in the Ambulatory Care unit are planning a dramatic new look in memory of a colleague who died suddenly from a suspected epileptic fit.
QEHB Charity has created a fund in the name of Staff Nurse Safina Ali, who was just 28 when she passed away earlier this year.
The Ambulatory Care team are now hoping to collect hundreds of pounds in aid of epilepsy research by organising its first major fundraising event.
During November, male staff working in Ambulatory Care, the Admissions Lounge, and Wellcome Short Stay Unit will be growing moustaches.
But not to be left out the female staff, who make up the vast majority of the 120-strong combined team, are planning to wear false moustaches every Friday in November in memory of their colleague.
Sue Ward, Ambulatory Care Matron, said: “Safi was a charity fundraiser for epilepsy, so we decided that we would set up this charity in her memory and raise money for the cause that she supported when she was alive.”

“The hospital charity provides those added extras that make a huge difference to the lives of military patients and their families. Thank you for your support”
